3 best Brianna moments in Outlander Season 4, Episode 10
2. Learning she couldn’t fight off Bonnet
Hindsight is 20/20. It’s a saying I find myself saying a lot. I would spend days revisiting an event that happened and look at what I could have done differently. That’s exactly what Brianna did here.
As she continued to blame herself for the rape, we got to see the mind of a victim. Many victims do blame themselves, even though rape is definitely not their fault. Regardless of circumstance, rape is always the fault of the rapist. Yet, Brianna wasn’t ready to accept that.
I loved this moment in the forest with Jamie. As Jamie riled her up, she lashed out and that’s when he had the chance to teach her the lesson she needed. What could have taken months of conversation took just a few minutes of action. You could see in Brianna’s eyes that she knew had she fought back she would have died.
What came after was a love/hate thing. I didn’t like the fact that Brianna knew about Jamie’s rape, that Claire broke Jamie’s confidence. It would have been better for Jamie to tell Brianna the truth himself. But still, we got this moment between father and daughter that was essential but it wouldn’t have happened without Brianna realizing she could never have fought off Bonnet.
