2. Linking everything together with the ring

While doing laundry, Claire finally comes across her old ring in Brianna’s clothes. Slowly, she pieces everything together in her mind. There’s only one way that Brianna could have got her hands on this ring: through Bonnet.

Armed with the knowledge of the rape, she can’t help herself but ask Brianna directly about it. While she may be happy to get the ring back, she also knows what Brianna went through it. This ring is now tarnished in multiple ways and she’ll never be able to wear it again.

What I don’t like is that Claire agrees to keep a secret. I do like that she doesn’t really want to at first.

1. Wishing Brianna could stay

During the episode, Jamie has a chance to open up to Claire and shares how he’d love for Brianna to stay. Claire is honest and says that she wants the same. Yet,

in

this moment, we see Claire the sweetest and selfless mother that has had been for such a long time.

It’s sometimes easy to forget that Claire was selfless at times. She’s just been so judgmental at times throughout the course of the season, especially when it comes to Jocasta. So, I loved that we saw her honesty as she wished that Brianna could stay but knew that the opportunities and safety in the future were better for her.
