4. Consoling her daughter after the rape

It’s not a good moment, but this is one of the most beautiful moments. You can see the fear, the shock, the distress, and sadness in Claire’s eyes as she realizes what has happened to her daughter. What I love the most is that she goes from thinking her daughter has been promiscuous to being raped.

Time stands still in this moment. Caitriona Balfe does a beautiful job of acting, while Claire has that chance to console her daughter.

3. Realizing Brianna is pregnant

While picking the herbs, Brianna and Claire have a chance to talk. It’s in this moment that Claire uses one of her “superpowers.” Really, it’s a mother’s power to know what your child is thinking. Claire works out that Brianna is pregnant and decides to question her daughter about it.

This does open the conversation about Roger, Bonnet, and the rape. She learns the truth and it’s heartbreaking, but it leads to such a supportive moment for her as a mother.
