6. Lord John Grey and Claire bonding

When it happened: As Jamie and Willie bonded in “Blood of My Blood,” Claire needed to put aside her thoughts about Lord John Grey to treat him of the measles. And within this moment, we got some honesty and bonding that we never really thought we’d get. John opened up about why he was jealous of Claire and Jamie, as well as admitted that he could have had Jamie if he wanted.

Why it was perfect: There’s much to be said for honesty. Episode 6 gave us that in spades, as John admitted so much to Claire. The most important was why he was so jealous. It wasn’t necessarily that he wanted Jamie, but that he wanted what Claire could give to Jamie and the satisfaction that Claire had.

Suddenly, Claire realized that she and Lord John had some similarities. Claire couldn’t give Frank the satisfaction she believed he deserved for everything she knew he did. It was a much-needed bonding moment to ease the jealousy and tension and put the two on the same page.

5. Jamie giving Claire the ring

When it happened: At the end of this episode, Claire got the bath she needed, along with the alone time with Jamie. They had a chance to connect together, which led to the perfect time for Jamie to deliver the gift he had her made. Sure enough, it was a ring to replace the one that had been stolen.

Why it was perfect: I’d already been happy with the chance to the stolen ring storyline in the premiere episode, and this continued it. It was a chance to bring about a moment in the book, with Jamie getting a permanent ring made for his wife. There was even the engraving.

Episode 6 was certainly a beautiful episode. This moment just capped it all off with everything we needed between the couple.
