1. The handfasting ceremony (and everything that came afterward)

It’s been a long time since we’ve had a truly romantic moment in the series. In fact, the reunion between Claire and Jamie in “A. Malcolm” may have been the last one. So, getting this handfasting ceremony was perfect.

And yes, it was one of Roger’s best moments in Outlander Season 4, Episode 8. In fact, it was my favorite one.

Once again, we got honesty from Roger. He wouldn’t settle for anything less, even if he knew that Brianna might walk away. When she agreed to marry him, he managed to find a way to bring a Scottish tradition to their relationship: the handfasting.

He likely believed it was a longshot. Brianna had only just agreed to marry him after the previous argument. The idea of being handfasted could have been too much for her, but he offered it as an option anyway.

And this led to the beautiful moment in front of the fire. With his scarf, they were bound and we got that beautiful connection back to Claire and Jamie’s wedding when the two went through the traditional Scottish ceremony after the Catholic one.
