4. That first meeting with Stephen Bonnet

If you hadn’t read the books, you wouldn’t know that Roger and Stephen Bonnet meet right away. After all, many of you have likely heard about a particular storyline with Brianna, which will come up in the next episode. So, to see this play out was awesome.

We didn’t just get to see Roger quickly buy passage to the Colonies. We saw him haggle his way onto a ship, becoming a member of the crew to make sure he got across.

More importantly, we saw that he was willing to fight for this place on the ship. In a way, this is him finally fighting for Brianna.

3. Attempting to protect the young girl

After initially bonding with the young girl with smallpox, Roger was aghast at what came next for her. She would be thrown overboard, left to drown in the sea.

There was no way that Roger would want this to happen. He tried to protect the young girl, despite knowing deep down that there wasn’t really another option. It’s awful but having a ship with one person contagious would be a death sentence for so many others.

Yet, we saw the initial conviction Roger would have. He’s not the same man we’ve seen before. This moment certainly shows that.
