1. Using the name Wakefield

I’m not sure if this is from the books or if it’s something the show brought in, but I adore that when he called Brianna the second time, he said his name was Roger Wakefield. In the previous episode, Brianna had made a point that he was a MacKenzie. In fact, he lead the call of the MacKenzie clan.

Yet, in this moment, he shows himself as the reverend’s son. At no point has he forgotten any of his upbringing. The reverend was like a father to him and he has the utmost respect for what his uncle did.

Sure, this is the name he grew up with. Despite knowing he is a MacKenzie, he’s known as Roger Wakefield by many. It won’t be that odd for him to go by this surname. It shouldn’t be that odd for us to hear of him as Wakefield, but it was more the setting.

He was calling Boston. Brianna knew him as both Wakefield and MacKenzie. There was a chance that she would have told Gale that he was Roger MacKenzie, but he still introduced himself as Roger Wakefield. That name is important to him.
