1. The acting and production development are excellent

There’s never a time you’re taken out of the story. The set designs, the costumes, and the production quality are all excellent. This is despite having a smaller budget than many other TV shows.

Then there’s the acting. You’re drawn in by the stories and development of each of the characters. Even the side characters had good development and you can feel their connection to the leads. Alexander Dreymon expertly commands the screen when he’s on it, making you believe he’s the warrior Uhtred is supposed to be.

David Dawson is the perfect Alfred, showing all the sides of this brave and smart king. Don’t get me started on the amazing way the makeup department has managed to age the character over the years.

You’ll find yourself connected to many of the side characters, hoping they make it through the nightmares they’re put through. Chemistry between couples is definitely there and you find yourself torn between who you want to find happiness together.

And then there are the characters you’ll love to hate. Some of them may surprise you!
