Outlander Season 4, Episode 3 gave stories from two time periods. Here are the three best Jamie moments from the episode.

We were given some beautiful stories from both time periods in Outlander Season 4, Episode 3. As Claire and Jamie found a place to build their home together, Roger and Brianna realized they wanted didn’t things that pushed them apart.

As with each Monday in the new season, I’m using the #ManCrushMonday moment to look at the Jamie moments. I’ll follow on with Roger moments later. As the time in the episodes was split equally between the two timelines, I’ll drop the best moments from five to three for everyone (otherwise I’d probably just include every single moment from their episodes).

With that in mind, here are Jamie’s best moments from Outlander Season 4, Episode 3.

3. Memories of his mother

Before leaving River Run, he spoke to Jocasta about it. She isn’t happy but part of her does understand his need to leave — well, she suspects Claire has a hold on him and that he isn’t thinking freely.

Regardless, there’s a beautiful moment. Jocasta doesn’t want him to leave empty handed, so she makes sure he takes his mother’s candlestick holders. It’s clear that these mean the world to her but it’s also clear that they mean the world to him.

Jamie has often spoken of how much he misses his mother. This is one of those moments that stands out because he feels one bit closer to her and you can see it in his face. He’ll cherish this gift.

2. Talk of a new home

During the episode, Claire and Jamie figure out their next plan. It’s clear that Claire only wants to be in a city because of safety. Of course, there are elements to living in a city that wouldn’t work for them and cities aren’t necessarily safe.

As they discuss where to find a home, Jamie suggests somewhere that Claire is more familiar with. This would help her settle better in this New World and could also give them the edge. Why not settle in Boston where he can get some sort of connection to his daughter?

More from Top Moments

I just love how selfless Jamie is a lot of the time. He is devoted to Claire and will sacrifice some of his own happiness to make sure she’s happy. Part of me thinks that he doesn’t want to live in a city because he loves working the land, but if it makes Claire feel safer then he will do it.

In the end, they find a spot overlooking the mountains. Claire returns the sacrifice, choosing to stay on the land and make a deal with the devil to build a home where Jamie is clearly happy. It’s a place that reminds him of home and that look of awe, wonder, and love on his face is priceless.

Okay, I’ve technically included to moments in this, but they both connect because it’s all about finding a home together.

1. Discuss his future

The last moment is one of sacrifice and happiness. Jamie makes it clear that he would continue to live the life of an outlaw if it wasn’t for Claire. She rescued him from that, but without her, he’d likely go back to it.

Now he does have more people to think about. There’s Young Ian, Fergus and Marsali, and others who rely on him. However, the most important is his soulmate, the one who returned to this time to be with him.

While he’s done illegal acts in the past, most of his time being an outlaw has been when Claire hasn’t been around. Except for the lead up to Culloden, he’s tried to be a good man and live on the right side of the law when around her. This is something he wants to continue doing, which is why he’s looking for a place to call home.

This is all a deeper look into who Jamie is alone and with Claire. It shows more of what’s going on in his mind, because he isn’t an open book.
