5 top moments from Outlander Season 7, Episode 8

Daniel showed why he hates the British, and the Frasers get to go back to Scotland. Here are the five best moments from Outlander Season 7, Episode 8.

There were certainly some excellent moments throughout Outlander Season 7, Episode 8. The finale left us with some major cliffhangers for all the characters, and there is a major threat against Rachel now that an enemy has turned back up.

We go into another Droughtlander, but not without a few things to break down. It’s time to look back at the best moments from the Outlander Season 7A finale.

Daniel showing his hatred for the British

Everyone has their reasons to fight for freedom. For some, it was being disenfranchised due to unfair taxes. For others, it was personal. Daniel Morgan showed off his reason for hating the British in a speech that was designed to rally the troops. It was filled with memories of Outlander Season 1 as Dougal raised money for the Jacobite cause.

Daniel took off his own shirt and showed off his back. There were scars all down his back, and Daniel shared that he got 499 lashes—it was supposed to be 500, but the person doing the whipping lost count but Daniel didn’t.

Jamie never told Daniel about his own lashes but noted that Daniel viewed then as kindred spirits. They certainly are.

By the way, this was all real. Daniel Morgan is a real person from history and he did receive 500 lashes and he survived! He just wasn’t meant to.

Jamie saying goodbye to Simon Fraser

I know it was one of my favorite Jamie moments, but it was also one of my favorite moments overall. Jamie didn’t shoot Simon Fraser despite being ordered to. He shot off William’s hat instead. Someone else shot Simon, though.

As Simon lay dying, he learned that Jamie was in the opposite camp. Jamie was asked for, and he went to say goodbye to his cousin. They spoke together with such kindness and sadness, focusing on making sure Simon wasn’t alone as he died.

My favorite moment is Jamie leaving the tent door open and requesting that it stay that way. Simon and Jamie both grew up in the same area around the same time. They have the same superstitions in a way, and this honored something that wasn’t going to hurt anyone else.

Rachel slapping Young Ian

Young Ian went to see Rachel and kissed her. At first, Rachel leaned in for the kiss, but then she came to her senses and slapped him. Considering the time period, that slap shouldn’t be all that of a surprise.

However, it’s clear that there is something between them. Chemistry is there, and Young Ian loves her. Now that he knows that he can have children, he wants to be with Rachel, but he knows that isn’t possible. At least, not just yet.

Rachel is confused about what to do. She shouldn’t love Young Ian, but she does. Leaning in for the kiss and then slapping him is showing those two sides of her fighting. What will she choose?

Buck goes to the past with Roger

Roger wasted no time in sharing that he was going to the past. He would find Jemmy and bring him back home safe. Bree and Mandy need to stay in the present day.

There is someone else who can travel: Buck. Just like Roger, Buck wastes no time in saying that he will travel. It’s where Bree and Roger would have sent him if he wanted to go. He doesn’t know if he wants to travel for himself, but he will do what needs to be done for his kin.

I adore this moment. Buck originally came off as an awful guy, but he’s turned into Cousin Buck, someone who will do what he can for his family just like so many Highlanders.

Claire saves Jamie

We opened the Outlander Season 7A with the way the previous episode ended. Jamie was on the battlefield and looked dead. Some looters turned him over. As they were stealing from him, he coughed and it forced the looters to speed up a little. However, they weren’t fast enough for Claire to find them.

Claire did everything she could to save Jamie. She held a sword up to threaten the looters, and then she checked Jamie over to see how he was injured. After that, it was about saving his hand, making sure to leave him with something that was a working hand without pain.

It’s been Jamie saving Claire for so long, it’s time for Claire to save Jamie. And she came through.
