1. Discuss his future

The last moment is one of sacrifice and happiness. Jamie makes it clear that he would continue to live the life of an outlaw if it wasn’t for Claire. She rescued him from that, but without her, he’d likely go back to it.

Now he does have more people to think about. There’s Young Ian, Fergus and Marsali, and others who rely on him. However, the most important is his soulmate, the one who returned to this time to be with him.

While he’s done illegal acts in the past, most of his time being an outlaw has been when Claire hasn’t been around. Except for the lead up to Culloden, he’s tried to be a good man and live on the right side of the law when around her. This is something he wants to continue doing, which is why he’s looking for a place to call home.

This is all a deeper look into who Jamie is alone and with Claire. It shows more of what’s going on in his mind, because he isn’t an open book.
