There were some beautiful moments throughout the Outlander Season 4 premiere and Claire had some excellent scenes. Here are my favorite five Claire moments for #WomanCrushWednesday.

After looking at Jamie’s best moments for #ManCrushMonday, I’m using #WomanCrushWednesday as a chance to look back at the Claire moments from new Outlander episodes. And it’s all about the Outlander Season 4 premiere this week.

There were some beautiful and memorable moments. The “best” moments aren’t always going to be happy ones on my list. They’re the most meaningful and stand out for various reasons. Sometimes you may see moments that are awful for the character but have a layer of intricacy and foreshadowing to them.

Here are my top five Claire moments from the Outlander Season 4 premiere.

5. Claire’s reaction to Fergus and Marsali’s news

While everyone else congratulated Fergus and Marsali on the news that Marsali was expecting, there was an element of false happiness from Claire. She looked almost as if she was disappointed in the news.

I don’t think she was disappointed, which is why this is one of my favorite moments. Marsali had confessed to Claire that she didn’t want to get pregnant right away. She wanted to have some fun with her new husband first. It’s not surprising that just four months later, Claire is shocked to hear that Marsali is pregnant.

There are chances that Marsali got her contraception tips from Claire up to this point. Claire may have hoped that Marsali would talk to her before choosing to come off the no-way-100-percent-effective contraception.

Once Marsali admitted that it was a surprise to the two of them, Claire relaxed a little. She wasn’t thrilled since things were still in the air but she was certainly not disappointed.

4. The look at dinner

While at dinner to show off her ruby to make a sale, Claire was asked about her hairstyle. There was just one look that Claire gave and immediately, the woman complimented her on the style.

Claire has a way with her looks. She always has from the first episode and it’s easy to tell what she means most of the time. In this case, she was encouraging the woman at the table to say something bad about the hairstyle.

Conversation quickly moved on when the focus turned to the ruby.#

3. Putting herself at risk

More from Top Moments

At the very beginning of the episode, the Frasers needed a way to bury Hayes in a cemetery. They went out in the dead of night and it all looked like it would go smoothly. And then Stephen Bonnet turned up.

After some flattery and conning, Bonnet was able to get the Frasers to give him a ride past the checkpoints. Immediately, Claire put herself at risk and there was absolutely no argument. In this moment, she showed that she was willing to sacrifice herself but think ahead. As she said, a husband and wife traveling would be far less suspicious than Jamie going on his own.

2. Being there for Jamie

Shortly after this, the husband and wife pulled off to camp for the night. In that moment, Claire was just there for her husband. While Claire was friends with Hayes too, the execution affected Jamie more and Claire made sure that he had everything he needed mentally.

This did lead to the sex scene, which was supposed to be a consolation for the lack of “slippery rock scene” later. Whether it worked or not, it wasn’t actually the scene that I loved. It was the meaning behind this scene. Claire offered her body knowing that Jamie needed this physical intimacy.

1. The stolen ring

There was plenty of talk of rings throughout the Outlander Season 4 premiere and it all led to the end moment. Before I discuss why the ending was one of my favorites for Claire’s character (I told you they weren’t all happy moments), I want to bring up the moment when Jamie gives Claire the medicine cabinet. The subject of the ring comes up and Claire shares what it means to her.

That makes the ending scene all the more heartbreaking for her. She doesn’t want to lose either ring, in a way, but she definitely doesn’t want to lose Jamie’s. When she spits out the ring left behind, she crumbles, realizing that Jamie’s ring was the one taken.

That ring meant the world and it connects back to the Outlander Season 2 premiere when she just couldn’t remove it when Frank wanted to burn everything from the 18th century. Losing it means losing that physical bond between Jamie and Claire.
