4. He brings Rollo into the fold

I couldn’t mention Young Ian without mentioning Rollo, right? The two are like two peas in a pod in Outlander Season 4, so naturally, he needs to be mentioned. It’s because of Young Ian that we get the four-legged best friend, who is just as loyal as his master.

We’ll immediately see how loyal and protective Rollo is in the premiere episode. There are many more scenes to come.

5. He is a young Jamie

While he may not be named after his uncle, Young Ian is everything we could imagine Jamie being when he was just a boy. This is a chance to see more of this character and learn more about what Jamie was up to when he was younger. It’s a chance to see some of the development Jamie went through before Claire.

Of course, situations aren’t the same. When Jamie was a wee boy, he was at Lallybroch. Ian has already traveled to more places (albeit not out of choice) than Jamie would have considered when he was a teen. However, there are some major connections between the two personalities and it will be fun to see the two bond more.
