3. Geillis hinting she knows

I didn’t make this connection the first time watching it because I didn’t know who Geillis was, but in Outlander Season 1, Episode 2, I really get the vibe that Geillis knows Claire is a time traveler. At least, she already suspects it.

It wouldn’t be surprising if she did. Claire was found near the stones that Geillis had come through years earlier. This Sassenach also doesn’t have a very good story as to why she was in the area, making everyone think she is a Sassenach spy. Of course, Geillis was smart enough to be able to put it all together.

I always find it interesting in this episode that Geillis waits to get Claire alone to talk. It’s like Geillis wants Claire to slip up in some way. Like she’s waiting to see if this is another person to help her make sure the Jacobites win the rebellion.

Just the subtle hints are all we need. There’s foreshadowing for the things to come and enough intrigue surrounding Geillis to make you want to learn more. Honestly, she’s one of my favorite characters in the whole series.
