2. There doesn’t need to be all those flashbacks

There were times that the flashbacks took me out of the episode. They seemed forced at times, mainly because we’d only just watched the scenes that actually took place in the previous episode. I would have actually preferred some of the scenes not to have been kept in the Outlander series premiere and used in the flashbacks instead.

Such as Claire and Frank walking down the halls of Castle Leoch and her and Frank forcing hte surgery door open. The flashbacks in Claire’s mind would have been so much more powerful. That wouldn’t have taken away from the series premiere either. We could have still had the scene in the surgery, but without the extra elements.

1. Why was Geillis instantly a friend?

What we never find out in Outlander Season 1 is whether Geillis Duncan had an idea that Claire was a time traveler. There are moments that hint that she’s figured it out later, but in Outlander Season 1, Episode 2 did we know?

There would have been little for Geillis to go off to suspect such a thing. The only bit of information would have been where Claire was found, but how much of the story got out? Maybe it would have been better to know if Claire’s full story was spreading instead of just the rumors and the fact that she may have been an English spy.

If Geillis knew Claire was found near the stones and didn’t have a descent story, it would explain why she instantly believed Claire was a time traveler. That would have also explained Geillis’ decision to befriend Claire when everyone else didn’t.
