4 reasons Jamie should travel to Claire’s time in Outlander (and 4 he shouldn’t)
Reason to go: His reaction to the future
Jamie has heard about planes and cars. Claire has told him about all types of 20th-century inventions. The way he reacted to photos of his daughter was priceless–let’s not forget the bikini. What would be funnier than seeing his reaction to other inventions of the 20th century? Wouldn’t it be interesting to see how he takes in the noise, the way of life, and the technology?
There would be all types of drama created from this trip to the future. It just has to be one or two months and he’d be able to take in so much.
Reason to stay: We’ve seen enough reactions already
The story isn’t about Jamie’s reactions to life in the future. He’s never really been interested in that. In fact, when Claire begged him to go through the stones with her, he didn’t feel the need to. The 18th century is his time period. He’s happy there.
We’ve seen some of his reactions and they’re enough. He’s learned about planes and built his thoughts on them just from Claire’s positive views. When he saw the photographs, he was impressed, but his focus remained on the person inside the photos. He’s a practical man and we don’t need to see how he’d react to cars and planes.
