Celebrating the Outlander dads for Father’s Day
The Wakefields
There are two Wakefield men to celebrate, although one of those also goes by the name MacKenzie. Let’s start with Reverend Wakefield, a man who took his nephew in and raised him as his own. Roger knew that he was adopted, but he never thought anything bad about his uncle. In fact, he took the reverend’s last name in the present day, showing that he looked up to the man.
And, of course, Roger is the other dad to celebrate. We’ll see him become one of the Outlander dads Season 4, but he’s taken it in his stride throughout the books. It’s going to be an exciting story.
The Murrays
Ian Murray can’t be forgotten, even if he isn’t with Jamie and Claire right now. He has high expectations of his children and isn’t afraid to use corporal punishment against them if he believes it’s the best way to discipline his children. We’ll get to see a little more of him as a father in the fourth season.
There are other Murrays in the clan who become fathers in the books, but it’s Young Ian that we need to spotlight. He’s the father of a deceased child in the novels, which is heartbreaking and makes it easy to overlook his role. He also currently has one on the way and there’s a snippet about his life with his new wife and child from the “Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone” Daily Lines.
