Get a real taste of the highlands with Inverness’ Highland Games
The summer brings many exciting events across Scotland. One of those is the annual Highland Games in Inverness, which will bring you a taste of the highland warriors and more.
Have you ever wanted to take part in fun games and get a taste of being a Highlander? The Inverness Highland Games is one of the best opportunities for that. Now the summer is getting started, it’s time to play out your trips and make a visit to Scotland one of them.
On July 20 and 21, the Inverness Highland Games will take place in the city center and at Bught Park. This is a chance for everyone to come together to try their hand at the Wheel Barrow Grand Prix, take up Highland dancing, and listen to the local music. There’s just much to do and see over the weekend and tickets are affordable for all (the most expensive is £8 for adults on a Saturday). The Friday night is a gala evening, while the Saturday hosts all the games.
There’s even a fun Outlander event at the Highland Games 2018 on Saturday, July 21. Inverness Outlanders will be around for the day at Bught Park in their Clan Tent.
You are fully encouraged to dress up in your highland gear when attending the games. If you don’t already have a clan, you can join one for the two-day event, so Fraser tartan is more than welcome for the Outlander fans out there. If you fancy yourself more of a MacKenzie, then you’re encouraged to choose that tartan instead. It’s completely up to you!
While it may be sunny on the day, make sure you take extra layers. This is Scotland. There’s truth in the saying “only in Scotland do you get all four seasons at the same time!”
