If you’re still stuck for something to watch during Droughtlander, Starz may have a new book adaptation to delve into.
Many Outlander fans were fans of the book series first. There have been numerous adaptations of books from the 1980s and 1990s recently, with Outlander one of the more successful ones. Game of Thrones and The Handmaid’s Tale also stand out. But now Starz is attempting to give fans of period dramas and book adaptations another thing to watch.
Howards End is coming to the network on April 8, 2018. It will be a four-part mini-series based on the novel of the same name by E. M. Forster. This book adaptation isn’t one from the 1980s or 1990s, though. It was originally published in 1910.
The four-hour long series has already aired in the UK, but this is the first time U.S. audiences will get the series. Hayley Atwell and Philippa Coulthard star as two intelligent sisters, living together with their brother, played by Alex Lawther. Set in Edwardian London, the sisters’ lives are unorthodox for the time. It’s a story of friendship, family, love and loss.
Those who recognize the name Hayley Atwell will know her better as Marvel’s Agent Peggy Carter. She stared in Agent Carter for two seasons before it was unrightfully canceled. All filming was done in England.
While it’s only a four-part series, it’s still something to fill your time during Droughtlander. You’ve at least got April covered and hopefully by then there will be news on when Outlander Season 4 will air. There may even be news about Season 5! It’s also a period drama, helping to keep the mind frame of the time women were viewed as second-class citizens and property.
