The end of the year is time for many awards and fans got to choose their favorite show of 2017 in the CarterMatt Awards.

The CarterMatt Awards is the annual event, where fans of various shows get to choose their favorite show, actor, actress, etc. Outlander fans had already stolen the show with Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan becoming Top Actress and Top Actor respectively. Ron Moore also took Top Showrunner.

Even Tobias Menzies and Sophie Skelton walked away with awards at the end of the year for Best Villain and Breakout Star respectively. It was a big year.

But what about the Show of 2017?

Yes, Outlander fans rallied together and proved they are the best. It was pretty clear from the beginning. With just days left to vote, Outlander was sitting with more than 80% of the vote. The show in second place at the time had just 2% of the vote. It was going to take a lot to beat that. In the end, the show in second place was Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, ending with 10% of the vote.

It’s an excellent win for Outlander and may make up for the Golden Globes snub against Heughan. The show certainly deserves it. I know, I’m biased but I do watch a lot of TV and there are very few shows that include everything Outlander does. Very few mix excitement, drama, romance, danger and history together so seamlessly.

This is a win for a year that had a lot of negativity over the book changes in Facebook groups. The win shows that historical, fantasy love stories are where TV is at right now.
