Outlander will jump back in time to cover Young Ian’s storyline in the next episode.

Outlander isn’t afraid to use time jumps to tell a story. Season 3 has been full of jumps forward and backward, as Claire and Jamie spent 20 years apart in two different centuries. Now the show is taking another jump back in time, but only by a few months. Fans will see the trouble Young Ian has found himself in after being kidnapped from Silkies’ Island.

The first sneak peek for the week shows the men on the Portuguese ship bringing Young Ian aboard. The captain is happy that he has the box that “The Bakra” wanted and now has to decide what to do with “the boy.” Will he feed Young Ian to the pigs or have a change of heart?

You can catch the sneak peek below.

This is part of the storyline that has adapted from the books. Since “Voyager” is told from Claire’s point of view, a lot of the side characters can’t be developed as well as in many novels. It does give some creative license for the TV series, as side characters need to be more fleshed out.

Book fans will know the likely identity of “the Bakra,” but this is something that should be revealed in the episode. All the sneak peek reveals is that “the Bakra” is in charge, wants the box of money and jewels, and likes young boys.
