The Fight

This one may not have made your radar at first thought. It didn’t make mine at first, either. Really, I suppose it’s all the stuff leading up to this moment that makes it a tear-jerker. Really, the entire episode is enough to make you squirm, scream, cry, and laugh all at once.

I think they call that insanity. Anywho.

So what did happen leading up to this? Claire and Jamie were hastily married because both of their lives are on the line, but mostly it was Claire they were worried about. Everyone is still extremely unsure about the sassenach, and have kept her from escaping several times.

Then, Claire goes and gets captured by the British (again… they are everywhere. Like cockroaches- where there’s one, there’s many) and must be saved by Jamie and the rest of the rowdy crew. As punishment, Jamie spanked her bare ass, and boy was that entertaining. Claire comes from a time when that’s not as acceptable, and she was raised by her uncle Lamb, who made sure she was strong-willed and independent.

Basically, that crap don’t fly.

This fight comes out of the intense anger and disrespect Claire feels and the betrayal and duty Jamie feels. The product of the fight is that they become a single unit- a team. Equals. And that is a beautiful thing.
