Sacrifice is another one of those universal themes when it comes to relationship advice. Sacrifice can mean a lot of different things to different people, but in the most general, sweeping definition it’s giving up certain things to be with the one you love. Or, being supportive when it’s hardest.

Jamie was ready to make the ultimate sacrifice for Claire by giving her the option to go back to her own time and back to Frank. He also sacrifices his body and his life countless times for her. He would rather die than see her harmed in any way.

His greatest sacrifice is sending her home, pregnant with his child, on the eve of the Battle of Culloden. In return, Claire sacrificed her entire life back in her own time to be with Jamie, and then sacrificed leaving her child and her home to return to him twenty years later.
