Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter
This chapter continues the plot point of the dog tags. It’s clear that they play a bigger role. They are leading to a big story for Roger. At this point, they’re no longer foreshadowing things. Instead, they are creating a plot to follow.
Adapting the Written in My Own Heart’s Blood chapter
I would love to see Roger meet Black Jack Randall. There are no signs that Tobias Menzies will be in Outlander Season 7, but I could see this chapter switching around with a couple of others, allowing for it to happen in Outlander Season 8 instead.
The chapter is necessary in a way. Roger needs the information to be able to find out more about the dog tags. The only way this chapter could be skipped is if the entire dog tag storyline is removed, but that means something much bigger for Roger’s storyline and I hope that isn’t going to be the case.
