Roger, Jamie, and Young Ian try to set a trap for Stephen Bonnet, but things don’t go to plan. Here’s a recap of the events from Outlander Season 5, Episode 10.

Just as you thought the show had forgotten about Brianna, we got another outstanding episode for the character. She comes face-to-face with an old foe, but what exactly happens on Outlander Season 5, Episode 10?

It all starts with everyone in Wilmington. Stephen Bonnet and Gerald Forbes meet in a brothel (because that really does seem like the best place to do Bonnet’s type of business) where they’re discussing the petition Forbes is working on getting signed. Everything is likely to go well, and Jemmy should be with Bonnet before they know it.

However, Jamie still has his plan in motion to take Bonnet down. He, Roger, and Young Ian (pretending to be Alexander Malcolm) try to set up a trap. Things don’t go to plan, as Bonnet’s men are the ones that turn up.

Bonnet, meanwhile, has spotted Claire and immediately recognizes her and Brianna. He knocks Claire out and takes Brianna to an unknown location.

Forbes pays a visit to Jocasta

One small storyline in the episode to touch on quickly is that of Forbes and Jocasta. She invites him over to draft up a new will of sorts. She wants to make sure that Marsali and Fergus, young Germain, Joan, and Felicite, and Bree and Roger are looked after when she dies.

This does mean some money comes out of the estate left to Jemmy. It angers Forbes, who is relying on 20% of the profit that Bonnet gains. Taking away some of Jemmy’s inheritance means that Forbes will gain less, and he’s still angry that Brianna and Jocasta embarrassed him.

Instead of drawing up the will, Forbes puts a pillow over Jocasta’s face. As Jocasta tries to fight back, she knocks the bell over so Ulysses rushes in and grabs Forbes, snapping his neck and killing him.

For a second, it looks like Jocasta has been killed, but she opens her eyes. It’s clear just from this that Jocasta is more than just Ulysses’s owner, but this isn’t a storyline the show has delved into just yet. Is it a hint that we’ll get some of this in Outlander Season 6?

Finding Brianna

Claire gets back to Jamie, Roger, and Young Ian. The race is on to find Bree, not knowing exactly what Stephen Bonnet is up to during Outlander Season 5, Episode 10. They find out that Bonnet does work at the brothel, so Claire and Jamie head there.

While talking to the ladies, Claire notices that one (who claims she has no idea who Bonnet is but is a terrible liar) is in a lot of pain. One leg is longer than the other and Claire suggests specialist shoes. With this and some money, the woman tells Claire everything she knows. Which is a LOT!

Stephen Bonnet tries to woo Bree

When Bree wakes up, she finds out that Bonnet wants to woo Bree. He wants them to play happy families and needs Bree to teach him how to be a proper gentleman.

At first, she resists. However, she soon realizes that this could be perfect. Gain his trust and she can escape.

It all leads to Bree reading a story. While the book is “The Art of Husbandry,” Bonnet can’t talk and Bree decides to tell her favorite story, “Moby Dick.” It works to gain Bonnet’s trust, as he believes that this is Jemmy’s favorite tale. It also connects to him as a sailor, and he eventually shares his nightmare of drowning.

When Brianna goes to bed, she makes it clear that a lady and gentleman will sleep in separate rooms. It all seems to play to her favor when in the morning, the prostitute from the brothel (who Bree later asks for help but is denied) is pouring tea for breakfast. Bree encourages Bonnet to let her go alone to fetch Jemmy. However, when they seal the deal with a kiss, Bonnet realizes that she’s lying.

It’s time for his second plan.

Brianna is sold

It turns out Bonnet isn’t just smuggling tobacco and whiskey, something that the judge of Wilmington would probably overlook. He’s also trafficking women, and Brianna is his latest woman to sell.

Bonnet already has a buyer. Just as it looks like Bree is going to be taken away and used for God knows what this man wants (but we know it can’t be good), there’s a shot. Claire, Jamie, Roger, and Young Ian have got to Brianna and Bonnet in time.

As Claire and Jamie rush to Bree, Roger rushes to take down Bonnet. Young Ian makes sure the man who was going to buy Bree goes nowhere near anyone. That man gets away, but Roger is able to knock Bonnet out so the can tie him up. The initial plan is to leave him stranded, knowing his men would eventually come for him. However, Brianna wants him to be put on trial.

Bonnet may have a lot of influence, but Governor Tryon still owes them for the mess at Alamance. He may be in New York, but he still has influence in North Carolina, so they decide to petition him to push for Bonnet’s arrest and conviction.

We end with Bonnet being executed. He is to die by drowning, which we all now know is his greatest fear. However, Brianna decides to shoot him in the head, killing him instantly. Is it mercy or just to make sure he’s dead? That’s something Roger wants to know but Bree doesn’t give an answer. Does she even know herself?
